Obituary of Phyllis Constance Siegel

Phyllis Constance Lang Siegel, daughter of Gertrude and Morris Lang, was raised in Scarsdale, New York. She was the younger sister of the late Harriet Lang Zweig and the older sister of Mili and Allen Lang. She graduated Washington Irving High School and studied art at the Pratt Institute. Phyllis married Louis S. Siegel in 1946 upon his return from the Pacific Theater of WW II. They had two children: Linda Gail and Norman Lang. She was a witty raconteur and a sparkling hostess. She had impeccable taste and an educated love of art. Her life revolved around her family and friends. She never failed to generously recognize one of their birthdays or other special occasions. She was proud of her daughter's early acting career and later leadership in the City of Hope, and of her son's Medical career and poetry. She was also joyously proud of the accomplishments of her grandchildren, brother, sisters, nieces and nephews. Mom Mom traveled cross-country even when she was frail to attend each of her grandchildren's recitals. She is survived by her former husband Lou Siegel, companion David Karp, son Dr. Norman Lang Siegel (Deborah Forst), daughter Linda Kane (Steve Kane), granddaughters Chet and Margaux Siegel, brother Allen Lang (Alice Lang) sister Mili Lang, nephews David (Trinka) and Dr. Jeffrey (Donna) Zweig, nephew Steve Braitman (Christina), Jackie Braitman (daughter Sara) Lori, Warren & Reanna Karp and lifetime friends Lenore, Jack & Fran, Sharon and Morty. Services were held in Southern California.
