Obituary of Marie Elizabeth McCarthy

Marie Elizabeth Bolwell McCarthy Marie Elizabeth Bolwell McCarthy Marie McCarthy, 93, passed away on January 30, 2010 in Las Vegas. Born in Brooklyn, NY on September 9, 1916 to Harry J. and Anna Seymour Bolwell, Marie was a 6 year resident of Las Vegas, formerly of Ormond Beach, FL and Pompton Lakes, NJ. She had an A.A. degree in accounting and was retired from Oxford University Press. She was active in St. Thomas More Catholic Community in Henderson. She was a Past President of Ormond By-the-Sea Chapter of AARP, St. Brendan's Women's Club, and participated in many volunteer and charitable activities throughout her life. Marie enjoyed being active with her family and friends. She loved adventure and traveled extensively, even to a remote location on the Navajo Reservation with her daughter Jane when she was 88. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by all. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Community, 130 North Pecos Road, Henderson, NV 89074, Saturday, February 6 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in Ormond Beach, FL. Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Frank V. McCarthy, her parents and her sister Margaret. She leaves behind her brother, Harry J. Bolwell (Betty) of Vero Beach, FL. She is also survived by her three daughters, Dr. Jane McCarthy (David) of Las Vegas, Lois Lindstrom (Harry) of Danville, CA, Frances McCarthy of Coupeville, WA, four grandchildren, Jeremy McCarthy (Melissa), Justin McCarthy (Robin), Bevin McCarthy Protas, Rachael McCarthy Protas, and one great-grandson, Jack McCarthy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Flowers can be sent to the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
