Obituary of Michael Rubino

Michael Rubino 67, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away Dec. 2, 2009 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born November 18, 1942 in Brooklyn, N.Y. He is the son of the late Andrew Rubino and Filomena Simonetti - Rubino. Mike's first love as a child was playing baseball and watching the Yankees, especially Micky Mantle. He was later drafted to the minors by the Philadelphia Phillie's and the Pittsburgh Pirates, but had already enlisted in the Army. He served in Germany during the Vietnam War as an army tank mechanic, a Sgt. and a decorated sharpshooter from 1961-1964 with honors. He then met his wife Joan Rubino in 1968. They just celebrated 40 years of marriage on August 24th. He taught auto body classes and worked as an auto body mechanic prior to opening his first auto body shop in 1973. He later moved from Long Island, NY to Las Vegas, NV in 1996 with his family. He continued in his profession and business ownership until his demise. Mike's love for life shone through his beautiful piercing blue eyes. He was a real jokester, always fooling around laughing, unless he was yelling at the TV because his Yankees weren't winning 20-0. His passions were golfing, cooking, fishing, watching sports and traveling. His greatest joy was his family! He was a selfless man whom always put his family ahead of himself. He charmed and inspired everyone who knew him. He is our angel now, as he's always been. To know him was to love him and we will miss him more than words can say. It was an honor and privilege to have him as a part of our lives. Beloved husband and adored father, he will be missed dearly by his wife, Joan Rubino, and his children Randy Fisher-Rubino, Dean Rubino, Nicole Rubino-D'Apice. As well as his grandchildren, Adam Fisher-Rubino, Nicholas Fisher-Rubino, Bella Rubino, and Antony D'Apice. The wake will be held at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Dr. #104, Las Vegas, NV 89147, at 1:00 p.m - 4:00 p.m and 6:00 p.m -9:00 p.m on Sunday December 6, 2009. The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at St. Joseph Husband of Mary, 7260 W. Sahara Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89117. The burial will follow at 12:00 p.m at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City, NV.
