Obituary of Maurice Niles Sheffield

Maurice Niles Sheffield, age 74, of Las Vegas died Tuesday, September 1, 2009 surrounded by family and friends. He is preceded in death by his 12 siblings. Maurice served his country honorably in the United States Air Force starting in 1954, and retired after 21years of service. He then continued working for the Air Force for 20 more years as a Realty Property Officer in Civil Engineering. The value he placed on higher education is evidenced by him attending The University of New Mexico where he received his BA in Business Administration. Maurice loved to travel, listen to music, debate and was an avid football fan (he was a loyal Redskins follower). He was noted by many for his kindness and caring personality. This was proven in his role as an EEO Counselor for several years. Most importantly, Maurice made the decision to enter into covenant relationship with God, by receiving Christ as his Lord and Savior. Although he will be greatly missed, we need not sorrow, for he is with our heavenly Father. 2 Corinthians 5:8 (New King James Version) We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara (Cakes), of 51 years, sons Brian (Ann) of the UK, and Bruce (Kathy) of Las Vegas, daughter, Marcia Sheffield of Las Vegas, 8 grandchildren, Bret Kleber (Ashlee), Katie Kleber, Carlton Sheffield , Victoria Sheffield, Blayne Sheffield, Collin Sheffield, Lindsey Sheffield and Brayden Sheffield, two great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Kleber and Levi Kleber, 4 nieces, 4 nephews and a host of grand nieces & nephews, relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers contributions in Maurice's memory may be made to Helping Hands of Southern Nevada and Catholic Charities.
