Obituary of Frances Rhea Copeland
Frances Rhea Copeland (nee Klein) age 97, died March 26, 2018 at Nathan Adelson Hospice after a short illness. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Sidney Herbert Copeland. Frances was the daughter of the late David Milton and Lucia Klein of Baltimore, Maryland. Her siblings all preceded her in death: Philip Edward and Sterling Wilson Klein, and Le Etta Cooper, all of Baltimore. She is survived by a daughter, Shelley Maxine Copeland of Owings Mills, Maryland, and Dr. Lawrence Scott Copeland (Linda) of Las Vegas, and Dr. Ira Hunter Copeland (Susan) of Las Vegas and Pikesville. She is survived by 9 grandchildren, 10 greatgrandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Frances was born in Mullens, West Virginia on April 26th, 1920. Her family moved to Baltimore, Maryland during the Great Depression. She graduated From Forest Park High and attended the University of Baltimore. Frances wanted to be a journalist and writer writing many things during her life mainly letters and lists. She went to work in Baltimore and New York City. She married Sidney Copeland and went to work as an employment counselor. She was active in Temple life and served as President of Temple Oheb Shalom Baltimore's Sisterhood. Eventually, moving to Columbia, Maryland she started her own business Frances Klein Copeland Personnel Services.
Upon retiring to Las Vegas in the mid 1980s with Sidney , she remained active in Jewish life. She was proud of her Jewishness and supported many causes. She was past President of the Sisterhoods of Adat Ariel and Temple Sinai in Las Vegas. Frances was a 50 year member of Hadassah. She prayed for a better world for her children, grandchildren, and generations to come. She was a proud member of Temple Sinai Las Vegas. Funeral Services were held at Sol Levinson and Brothers Pikesville, Maryland on April 3rd, 2018. Internment at Oheb Shalom Cemetery, Reisterstown, Maryland. Contributions can be made in her name to The Klein –Copeland Fund at Temple Sinai Las Vegas 9001 Hillpointe Rd 89134. (templesinailv.org).
