Obituary of Peter Wurmer

It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Peter Wurmer announces his passing on Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018, at the age of 64 years. Peter will be forever remembered by his wife and best friend of 18 years, Sandy, and his children Amber, her husband Mark, Mary Boots, and Joseph. Peter will also be lovingly remembered by his sister Margit and her husband Christoph. Peter was predeceased by his brother Ralph, whose loving family includes his sister-in-law Lisa and his nieces Katrin and Tina. Peter was born and raised in Mittenwald, Germany, on May 9th, 1953, to Paul and Sonja Wurmer. He fondly remembered mushroom, berry and snail hunting with his father to sell to local restaurants. Peter studied electrical engineering in Germany where he became a licensed electrician, but Peter was an ambitious dreamer. He spent a year in Africa in his 20's, taking a VW van and a replacement motor which he used to make repairs on the fly. He came to America in 1982 with $1,200 in his pocket and not very fluent in English. He got his start at Star Sporting Goods as a ski repairman and later at Go Vacations. He was an entrepreneur at heart and he and his partners, Chris McIntyre, Jeff Brown and Bob Pitts decided to start their own business. Together in 1992, with only a few motorcycles in Peter's garage purchased with their own credit cards, they founded EagleRider. He dedicated his life to their dream and with years of hard work he was able to see it become a successful reality. In every country he visited, he made true and lasting friendships. For Peter, a friend was a friend for life. Traveling wasn't just for business; it was a personal pleasure for him. He had many great adventures with his partner in crime, Sandy. Peter was multi-talented, from skiing in the Olympics, becoming a licensed pilot, scuba diving, riding motorcycles across the country, to being able to fix anything, his accomplishments reflected his inquisitive nature, intelligence, and zest for life. There was always something new to be discovered about him, no matter how long you knew him. Cooking was his most treasured pastime. Many would say that Peter was one of the best chefs they knew. He invested in every culinary gadget and the finest ingredients to make his meals a true gourmet experience to share with those he loved. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, April 15th at 2:00 p.m. at Crimson, at the main pool entrance inside Red Rock Hotel and Casino, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd., Las Vegas, Nevada.
