I can only imagine the terrible loss that Sharon's family must be feeling right now. I feel so sad myself and I feel sad for all who loved her. What a special person she was and how brave she was. She faced death with grace and dignity. I'm so happy that Sharon had moved to the Las Vegas area to be near her daughter and granddaughter, because it meant that I could see her and renew our friendship. We had known each other since junior high school and graduated high school the same year. We had such a good time reminiscing about our school days and sharing news about our families. She was such a beautiful soul and I will forever miss her.
Rest in peace, dear one. You left our world being loved and admired by many.

My thoughts and prayers are with Dave, Lynis and other family members as they go through this time of adjusting to the loss of this wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and truly lovely friend.
Sharon and I had known each other since our days at Bancroft Jr. Hi. School. We continued our friendship through High School and beyond. It was always such a joy to see her each year at the reunion activities and to exchange e-mails and cards to keep in touch.
Her gentle, caring heart will truly be missed by so many of us, but our memories will keep her in our hearts until we all meet again for the greatest reunion of all. God Bless and Keep you, Lillie

They say, people come into your life for a reason, a season,.. or a lifetime.
Although I've known Sharon for many many years, (I am the 2nd Mrs. Gary Howard) our relationship was simple and cordial when we saw each other at family functions After she was diagnosed and it was determined, she could no longer live by herself, I would come to sit with her while Lynis was at work and we began to talk, and talk..and talk. As you all know, Sharon is very easy to converse with and we spoke about everything,... life, family, politics, Toastmasters, likes, dislikes, food, TV (both of us huge Netflix viewers) her parents, her siblings, her childhood, and once in a while "him" (Gary), spirituality, beliefs, etc. Shortly after, when she was moved into the group homes, I would pop in to visit telling her "I can only stay a few minutes" and an hour or so later, we were still chattering away and eventually we spoke about God..her firm beliefs and my "understanding" of God..similar, but a little different than Sharon's God. She seemed ok with my God, but was resolute with her God and gently suggested I might seek to believe in her God. That is Sharon..gentle, and determined..
I truly marveled at how she handled her illness, being bedridden, obviously in discomfort, yet cheerful and never complaining. What a role model!
There were wonderful caregivers, especially at Casa Amore who all adored her, ... and some not so wonderful previous to moving there. If they were lacking compassion for her, she easily had compassion for them. She accepted her situation, handled it with grace and told me she was dismayed when she was first diagnosed, but not scared. Her belief was real. We talked about creating a diary of sorts chronicling her journey through her illness but it was cut short after she fell.
I believe Sharon knew her time had come a few weeks ago when she gifted me with a beautiful big print bible which I promised to" try" to read. (I'll be looking for a Bible study class to help with this :) )
So although our season has come to an end for now..the reason is clear to me and the gift of Sharon's friendship will forever be in my heart and I am deeply grateful for her love, wisdom , the laughter we shared and oh yes, "him"
Until we meet again Carlos..xoxoxox

Sharon was my singing partner through Bancroft Jr. High and Lakewood High School. We were altos and always sat next to each other. We shared a love for music and a deep appreciation for Mr. Schmidt, our choir director. Sharon was the girl with the best ponytail on campus! Her smile was infectious and her personality was effervescent! She was always positive and upbeat. I adored her as did everyone who knew her. Heaven will be a bit brighter with her there! I love you dear Sharon. Your friend and singing partner, Jo. (JoAnne Gayhart Sampo)

We are bonded together by those precious years at LHS, Every day in this new era, time becomes more and more precious to each of us and to those we love and cherish. 58 years have passed from a time when 74 was old. Today it is young and Sharon passes too early and too young. She will be missed and the coming years will miss her. If she were asked, Sharon would say, as Paul Anka wrote and Frank Sinatra sang so well, "I did it my way." Sleep well Sharon.

Sharon,
You were such an icon for Lakewood High School alumni! It was an honor to step in and continue the legacy of what you started with the Lancer Loop publication. Although we never had the chance to meet (face to face), I certainly appreciate all that you did to help me take over with the newsletter. You were so loved... quite the legend, I must say. Rest in peace, beloved Lancer.

Sharon will be missed, especially each year at the LHS Alumni picnic. She is one of the reasons there is a picnic each year. She was part of the group that started it all - what an undertaking, and can not be praised enough for all that she did She took on the sad duty of updating the memorial page, and kept us all abreast of what was happening, also doing research on little 'tidbits' of Lakewood history to enlighten us. You always knew when you saw her she'd be smiling. What a joy her life brought to all of us. May God bless Sharon's family at this time, Sharon blessed us all with her presence.
