Obituary of Ann Shafer Frankel

Ann S. Frankel, 86, died on January 8, 2018 in Las Vegas, NV after a brief illness. Born in Philadelphia to Irvin and Miriam Shafer, Ann graduated from Forest Park HS in Baltimore and attended Goucher College for two years before marrying Harry M. Frankel. When Harry became a professor at Rutgers University in 1960, Ann moved to central New Jersey and spent the next 55 years in Highland Park and then North Brunswick, NJ. In 1968, Ann started a career at Merrill Lynch as an early woman to enter the field of computer database administration and systems analysis. She moved on to JP Morgan Guaranty Trust followed by several other firms before retiring in 1992. In retirement, she and Harry enjoyed family, travel, and classical music. They were long time patrons and subscribers to the Metropolitan Opera; a tradition that Ann continued until she moved to Nevada in 2015 where she had to listen from afar. Ann was predeceased by Harry and her sister, Myrna Levin. She is survived by her children: Isaac Frankel of Englewood, NJ and Sara Frankel of Henderson, NV. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Vicky Schipper Frankel and son-in-law Robert Harris, her grandchildren: Farrell Frankel of State College, PA, Chloe Frankel of Watertown, MA, Alyssa Frankel Boffoli and Lindsay Boffoli of Medford, MA and a great-grandchild: Gabriel Frankel Boffoli. Memorial donations may be made in Ann's name to her favorite charities: The Metropolitan Opera Guild, Three Square Food Bank of Southern Nevada, Planned Parenthood, or Doctors Without Borders.
