Obituary of Jerome "Jerry" Hirsch
Jerome "Jerry" Hirsch, age 86, of Las Vegas, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. Jerry was born August 2, 1931 in Chicago IL to the late David Hirsch and the late Minnie (Cohen) Hirsch. Jerry enlisted in the Navy right out of High School. He was a drummer in the Navy Drum and Bugle Corp and also served as a dental technician, making false teeth for the Seabees. After the navy, Jerry worked making false teeth, then worked in insurance business, retiring from Metropolitan Life after 25 years of service. Jerry went to work at Western and Southern for a number of years until he relocated to Las Vegas in 2004. Horse racing, the Chicago Bears, the Chicago White Sox, bowling, golfing and traveling were Jerry's favorite hobbies. Jerry is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marilyn Hirsch; son Loren (Kathleen) Hirsch of Las Vegas NV; step grandchildren Jennifer Lieber (Tom) Dolt, and Kristopher (Katie) Lieber; and step great granddaughter Kaylie Williams. A funeral service will be held at 8:00 am on Monday, December 18, 2017 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV. In lieu of flowers contributions in Jerry's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer's Association or Plant a Tree for Israel.
