Harold (Huey) Thomas Long Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, veteran, entrepreneur, mentor and friend. Huey was an avid golfer and a full time comedian. He could talk with anyone, always had a smile on his face and cherished laughter. He was honest, hardworking, loving, caring and a whole lot of fun. He was always looking for the best in people and people saw the best in him. He was a man of great faith who along with his wife, volunteered countless hours teaching financial freedom courses for the church. He was an amazing person who brought happiness to so many people. Huey was born May 25,1924 in Sioux City, Iowa. Upon graduating from High School, he joined the Navy in 1942 and served on the USS Saratoga in World War II. In June of 1946, shortly after his discharge from the Navy, he married his sweetheart Shirley Ruth Albertson. They spent the next 70 plus years together building a successful business, family and countless friends. In 1962, he founded the Huey Long Company in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, selling and distributing Pella Windows and Doors throughout Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota. In 1966 he moved the headquarters to Grand Island, NE, and settled there for the next 37 years. After successfully leading the Huey Long Company, he retired in 1995, subsequently serving on the County Board of Supervisors from June 1996 to January 1999. Huey and Shirley relocated to Simi Valley, CA in 2003 and in 2014, they moved to Las Vegas, NV to be close to their children. Survived by his wife of 70 years, Shirley, son and daughter-in-law Larry & Jackie Long, daughters, Dianne Bapat and Betsy Murray. Grandchildren; Jared & Carrie Regelin, Shane & Meggan Regelin, Jace & Julie Schuppan, Kirsten Johnson, Eric Murray, Tonya Craft (Murray), Angela Lawrence (Murray), AJ & Christina Bapat, Jerry & Katelyn Bapat, and several great grandchildren. Huey joined his heavenly father on Sunday, March 5th 2017 at the age of 92 in Las Vegas, NV. The life he lead, the legacy he left and the memories he created will be cherished for generations. We know he is already bringing smiles to those above and will continue to bring smiles to those of us below as we remember and embrace his spirit.
