Obituary of Leo Bodner

Leo Bodner, 83 years old, died February 14th, 2017. His parents, Irving and Nettie Bodner, came to the US in the early 1920's, from what is now Austria and Poland respectively. They married in 1925, giving birth to three boys and one girl, starting the Bodner family imprint in the US. Leo has one sister, Lillian, who passed last year, and two brothers, Nathan and Sol. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Estelita Bodner, and his 28 year old son, Joseph Bodner. Leo attended Columbia Law School in the 1950's on the GI Bill, a time when it was not entirely common for Jews to attend law school. His and his family's story is a true rags-to-riches story, as his father started work as a street peddler in Depression-era, Bronx, New York. Leo eventually rose to become an administrative law judge, paying his own way for all his schooling. Like his siblings, Leo had a brilliant and sharp mind that never languished, even when his body did. After sustaining a traumatic head injury, and enduring two brain surgeries, he still displayed a sharp sense of humor, asking, "Am I still alive?" In his final moments, his wife and son were by his side, and he knew how much they loved him. His son will carry on his name and legacy. A funeral service was held at the Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemtery in Boulder City, NV. We miss you always, dad.
