Obituary of Sol Rubin

Sol Rubin, 88 years old, died on January 28, 2017 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. Sol was born in Yonkers, N.Y. on February 17, 1928. His parents were Max & Lena Rubin, originally from Lithuania. He was the youngest of four children, his brother, Irving, and his sisters, Ruth & Natalie, who are all deceased. He graduated High School and enlisted in the Army during World War II. He was stationed in the Philippines. After the war he returned to New York and worked in Manhattan. He became a salesman for home furnishings and studied interior design during that time. While working, he sang with the Charlie Spivak band. He had a lovely voice and sang the most beautiful ballads. Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole were his favorite singers. Sol moved to Los Angeles and continued his studies and became an interior designer. He worked in Beverly Hills and Bel Air with many movie stars. Sol had a love of horses even though he was allergic to them. He became a great handicapper and bought a thoroughbred race horse named Angry Native. He loved being involved in the racing community. His horse won big money in a race at Golden Gate and Sol decided to quit while he was ahead. Sol later moved to San Diego, CA and opened a design studio. One day a lady walked into his studio and changed his life. That was Adrianne. They dated and had fun together for many years. They finally decided to make it legal and went to Las Vegas and were married in Temple Beth Am in Summerlin in December 2002. Two years later, they bought a home in Sun City Summerlin and started a new life there. Sol will be remembered for his kindness and caring, his good sense of humor, and his beautiful voice. A Funeral service will be held at 8:45 am on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, Suite 104, Las Vegas, NV 89147.
