Obituary of David Hsong Hsu

David Hsu, 70, died peacefully in his home in Las Vegas, NV on December 14, 2016. David was born in China to the late Mr and Mrs Clement Hsu. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; his children, Dan, Vida, Michelle, and David; as well as his sisters Anna and Barbara. After growing up in China, David moved to the United States to attend college in Montana. In the 1970s, he worked for Equitable Life Insurance in New York City, but for most of his adult life, David was a restaurateur. He opened his first restaurant, China House, in the small-town Charlotte, MI. He later sold China House to open up Lotus Garden in Walled Lake, MI. When he and his family moved to Las Vegas, he managed restaurants in some of the most famous casinos in the world, including Harrah's, Bally's, and Caesars Palace. Casino executives still talk about the great success that David brought to his restaurants, even years after he retired. Besides being a great restaurant manager/owner and a fantastic cook, David was also an excellent father. He always wanted what's best for his children, making sure they earned good grades in school, were competitive in everything they did, and had the proper structure to be able to succeed in life. David also loved animals. He spoiled his cat, Tiger, who will sorely miss him -- as will the neighborhood chipmunks whom David liked to hand-feed nuts to. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, December 21st, 2016 from 2-5pm at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, Suite 104, Las Vegas NV 89147. There will be a reception to follow at Hong Kong Garden Seafood & Dim Sum Cafe, 5300 Spring Mountain Rd., Las Vegas. All are welcome to attend and celebrate David's life. Flowers can be sent to Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services,3975 S. Durango Drive, Suite 104, Las Vegas, NV 89147 Alternatively, to honor David and his love of animals, the family asks that donations be made in David's name to the ASPCA: https://secure.aspca.org/donate/memorial.
