Obituary of Rhoda Stern

Rhoda Stern, age 77, a 14 resident of Las Vegas, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016. Rhoda was born January 24, 1939 in Montreal Canada to the late Avram and the late Ida Popoff. Rhoda attended Roosevelt University in Chicago and earned a degree in Philosophy. She worked for over 30 years as a legal secretary for the same lawyer in Chicago. She enjoyed playing piano and Kaluki and working on her intricate needlepoint. She was a member of Congregation Bet Knesset Bamidbar, the Jewish Friendship Club and the Chicago/Midwest Club of Sun City Summerlin. Rhoda is survived by her husband of 52 years Gilbert Stern; daughter Julie (Carl) Manello of Chicago; and grandchildren Jacob and Rebecca Manello. She is predeceased by her son Jay Stern and brother Harold Popoff. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Bunkers Memory Gardens Cemetery, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road, Las Vegas, NV. Contributions in Rhoda's memory may be made to an organization which benefits cancer, heart disease and diabetes patients. .
